Sketch Saturday and Crafty Little Fairies

Image
Evening, all! How is your weekend going? Mine has been a little odd, since my daughter moved to Dublin on Tuesday, and the place is much quieter!! I confess I did shed a tear or two when I was ironing her jeans and hoodie today!! However, it's so amazing that she is now able to get on with her life, since a year ago she started her chemo. Enough of this maudlinity (is that a word?!) I made a card today while listening to a terrific cricket match - England lost to Sri Lanka, but it was a damn' close-run thing! The darling image is by Lili of the Valley of course, and I coloured her with my Promarkers in bright, sunny colours to cheer myself up. The papers are from the 'Porcelain' collection by Basic Grey - I have finally screwed my courage to the sticking place and started using some of my older treasured papers. The flower is by K & Co (Citronella collection) and the sentiment is from Hero Ats' 'Thanks a Bunch' set. The sketch is an old Sketch

A Flower!

Evening, all! While tidying the craft hovel yet again I came across some little 4 x 4 inch square cards. I also had some paper on my desk, left over from a previous card - this is from 'Bonnets and Bowties' by LotV which is the current freebie with "Simply Cards and Papercraft" magazine. They are such pretty papers, I have the original Nitwits digis, and the LotV paper pad, and now this freebie!!!!! I had already die-cut a circle in the chequered piece, so it just needed a trim. The spotty paper is also a snippet, though I'm not sure where it's from. I raised the die-cut paper on foam pads (lots of them round the cut edge so it wouldn't sag!) and added the flower: this is 2 Prima flowers layered together, and the pink button is from stash. Finally the sentiment is by Hero Arts from the Clear Design 'Messages' set, and I stamped it in Hero Arts Navy Shadow Ink. The tiny pearls were from Hobbycraft. I'm entering The Snippet Playground wit

Dream Valley Challenges #82 Things With Wings

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. We have sunshine in S-E Hertfordshire, what a difference it makes, everyone seems so cheerful when the sun shines! Unfortunately I have been fighting off a cold this past few days and it's now Cold - 1, Maggie - 0! I am mainlining Beecham's powders, they taste vile!! Enough medical talk! There's another lovely challenge at Dream Valley and it's Things With Wings - very suitable, I think, with the birds flying about building nests. Our fabulous sponsor is Kenny K and the prize is 3 digis! I used Devilish Donna for my card, which is made for a Goth chick of my acquaintance! I coloured her with Spectrum Noirs, glittered her wings, and then cut her out. The card base is made with purple centura pearl, embossed with a big Spellbinders M-bossibilities folder. I stamped a polka dot border with an MFT stamp called Large Scale Backgrounds - I tried to do an ombre effect. The sentiment on the banner i

I used Spellbinders Exquisite Labels 11 for the diecut background, and layered a labels 29 on top - I love how different Spellbinders go together so well! The ribbon is seam binding, and the flowers are from stash. The sentiment reads 'Fill your days with

Our theme this time is Mother's Day Our sponsor is Doodle Pantry do have a look at their lovely digis! There are even some freebies so you can 'try before you buy'! On my card I used Rose Bloom . I used Spectrum Noir pens to colour two of the images, and cut out the flower from one and decoupaged it on top of the other, using foam pads. Then the whole image was added to a mat of white card and green card die-cut with a Spellbinders Stately Circles die, and also added with foam pads. The background paper is from the 'Floral Pavilion' stack by First Edition, the dots and roses are all glossy - very pretty! The ribbon is from stash. The sentiment is by Lili of the Valley. I added some Cotton Candy Stickles to the flowers on the sentiment and also in the main image. I'm pleased with how it turned out - the rose was a joy to colour, t

Wedding Card!

Hi, guys! I hope your week is going well. Mine is just.... going! Surely it was Monday yesterday? I know I've been busy with STUFF this last few days, and lots of bags of STUFF have gone down to Oxfam, but I look round my house and it still seems chaotic! I'm sure everyone else has this problem!! My neighbour's lovely daughter was married recently - the whole family is remarkably good looking, and the bride looked as if she'd just stepped out of the pages of 'Vogue'! So I knew I wanted to do something a little bit special for her. This card is made with the Spellbinders 'Butterfly Corner' die and is based on one made by the inspiring Christina Griffiths . The video instructions are here Here is the back: I used Centura Pearl card throughout. I embossed the front and back pieces with a Spellbinders Butterflies Impressability which shows up better irl. The corner die cuts were all covered in white glitter. The one on the back makes a pocket, whic
